About

About Sali Shayia

Sali Shayia is a consultant, trainer and specialist practitioner with expertise across clinical, forensic, behavioural and mental health practice. With a career focused on understanding people, behaviour and the environments that influence them, Sali combines clinical knowledge with practical experience to support individuals, professionals and organisations navigating complex needs.

Her approach is eclectic, evidence-informed, trauma-informed and person-centred, drawing from psychological, behavioural and therapeutic frameworks rather than relying on a single model of practice. Sali looks beyond the behaviour itself to understand the person, their experiences, their environment and the factors that may be influencing their presentation. This enables her to develop practical, meaningful strategies that strengthen professional practice, improve responses to complexity and support safer, more sustainable outcomes.

Founder

Clinical insight with practical impact

Since 2019, through her leadership and work with CRAMLI Psychological and Behavioural Services, Sali has supported individuals, families, practitioners, care teams and organisations across the disability, mental health, forensic, education and community services sectors.

Her experience spans schools, TAFEs, disability and mental health services, community organisations and multidisciplinary teams. Her work has included supporting people with complex and intersecting needs, while helping professionals and organisations strengthen their knowledge, confidence and capability in responding to complex behaviour, mental health concerns and challenging situations.

Sali is also the developer of the Integrated Response Continuum (IRC), a practical framework designed to help professionals recognise changes in behaviour, identify opportunities for early intervention, adapt their responses as situations escalate, reduce risk and support de-escalation, recovery and meaningful reconnection.

Alongside her clinical and behavioural work, Sali delivers professional development, specialist consultation, workforce training and reflective practice. A key focus of her work is translating complex clinical concepts into practical strategies that professionals can confidently apply in real-world settings.

She is also developing a growing range of professional resources and forthcoming publications designed to make behavioural, psychological and mental health concepts more accessible to practitioners, educators, support teams, families and organisations.

At the centre of Sali’s work is a commitment to building the capability of the people and systems surrounding an individual. Her focus is not simply on responding to behaviour in the moment, but on improving understanding, strengthening practice and creating environments that promote safety, dignity, inclusion and meaningful long-term outcomes.

Turning knowledge into practice

Sali is passionate about bridging the gap between clinical knowledge and what actually happens in everyday practice. Her work focuses on making complex psychological, behavioural and mental health concepts understandable, practical and relevant to the people who need to apply them.

As a trainer and consultant, Sali works with professionals at all levels — from frontline teams and practitioners through to clinical leaders, educators and organisations. Her training encourages people to think beyond simply managing behaviour and instead develop a deeper understanding of the person, their environment, communication, experiences and unmet needs.

Drawing on real-world practice, Sali’s workshops are interactive, practical and designed to build confidence. Participants are encouraged to reflect, question, problem-solve and leave with strategies and tools they can genuinely use in their work.

Sali also provides specialist consultation and clinical guidance for complex situations where organisations or teams may benefit from an independent perspective, structured problem-solving or additional expertise.
